Armed man shot by Germantown police at Cameron Brown Park | Collierville Independent

A man armed with a rifle was shot and killed by Germantown police officers Tuesday night at Cameron Brown Park.

The Germantown Police Communications Center received a call at 9:45 p.m. from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office regarding an “unstable, possibly suicidal, armed and dangerous” man at Cameron Brown Park.

One minute later, officers located 24-year-old Justin Neil Davis in a parked car on the north end of the park.

Officers quickly evacuated the park and began communicating with the man via cell phone and their PA system.

“As officers were continuing their effort to communicate,” a release states, “the situation was escalated by the subject, who was armed with a rifle, resulting in three Germantown police officers discharging their weapons.”

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is leading an investigation into the incident.

The three officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid departmental administrative leave, per department policy, pending the outcome of the investigation.
