On Aug. 2, citizens have the opportunity to support the Collierville Police Department by participating in a nation-wide event promoting police-community partnerships through National Night Out.
Traditionally, Collierville neighborhoods have had good participation; in 2015, there were 40 registered parties.
This year, the town and police department want to encourage Collierville residents to exceed years past, and have the greatest amount of participating parties to date.
Neighborhoods have the option to partake in various ways: block parties, cookouts, parades, flashlight walks, contests, youth programs, etc.
“Since we’ve participated in the program, our record number of registered parties is 92 total. That’s going to be hard to beat,” said Lieutenant David Townsend.
As of July 18, there are 20 registered parties, and plenty of time left to add more.
To participate in National Night Out on Aug. 2, register your neighborhood, block or subdivision by calling the Collierville Police Department’s Community

Throughout the evening, Collierville Police Officers and Mayor and Board of Aldermen members will stop by the registered parties to enjoy the event with the community.
Celebrating its 33rd anniversary, National Night Out promotes police-community partnerships to make neighborhoods safer, better places to live.
With over 38 million participants nationally, the Collierville Police Department co-sponsors the event to encourage residents to work together to prevent crime in Collierville neighborhoods.
“This year, I encourage every Collierville citizen to show their support of the Collierville Police Department by joining a neighborhood block party during National Night Out,” said Mayor Stan Joyner. “The safety of the Collierville community is strengthened by the partnership between citizens and our police officers.”
