Lenoir, Young sign Letters of Intent | Collierville Independent

St. George’s seniors Davis Lenoir and Dylan Young, both of Collierville, celebrated their intent to play football for Wofford College next year in a celebration on Feb. 6, National Signing Day.

During the signing celebration, School President Bill Taylor and Head Coach Brent Hill referenced the many contributions Lenoir and Young made to the football team over their careers. “This dynamic duo was an integral part of the Gryphons success over the last four years,” Taylor said. “But, they would both be the first to say they could never have done it without their teammates.”

During the ceremony, both men referenced their team and coaches as playing an important role in their growth over the years.

Lenoir was a three-year starter for the St. George’s football team. He was selected to the All Region and Best of Preps All Metro Team, and played in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl All Star Game. He was named the Region’s Defensive Lineman of they Year. To top it off, Davis holds the school record for most sacks in a game.

Young was a four-year starter and was selected to All State, All Region, Best of Preps All Metro Team and played in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl All Star Game. He was also named a Tennessee Mr. Football Finalist and Regions Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Young also holds the school record for number of sacks in a season and sacks in a career.

“I choose Wofford because I felt as though it was my home away from home. The atmosphere was fun, but at the same time challenging, much like my St. George’s experience,” said Young. “I am really looking forward to next year coming in as a freshman and I feel as though if I work hard enough and show everything that I can do that I can make an impact on the field early on.”
