Collierville High School ranked 10th best in state | Collierville Independent

Collierville High School has been rated the tenth best public high school in Tennessee by U.S. News & World Report

The highly rated schools share three major traits: student bodies that perform well on state assessments, solid graduation rates and a good track record of preparing students for college.

To graduate, Tennessee high schools students must earn 22 credits in various subjects, including three credits in social studies, according to the Tennessee Department of Education.

Of the Tennessee schools in the 2016 rankings, six were awarded gold medals, 21 earned silver medals and 96 received bronze medals.

With a total enrollment of 1,941 students and 93 full-time teachers, Collierville received a silver medal. The school also has a 93-percent graduation rate.

The two top-ranked schools in Tennessee are located in the state capital of Nashville, in the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools district.

Collierville High School students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement coursework and exams. The AP participation rate at Collierville High School is 51 percent.

The student body makeup is 50 percent male and 50 percent female, and the total minority enrollment is 24 percent. Collierville High School is one of 55 high schools in the Shelby County.

Nationally, Collierville was ranked 1,123.

Houston High School was ranked No. 11 in the state.
