The unofficial results of the May 3 Shelby County Primary Election have been tallied and incumbent County Mayor Lee Harris, 44, won the nod from the Democratic Party and will run against Republican nominee Worth Morgan, 35, in the August election. Morgan has served on the City Council since 2016.

Harris beat out Kenneth Moody in the primaries.

Steven Mulroy received the majority of the votes as the Democratic nominee for district attorney and will challenge incumbent Amy Weirich for the position.

Current Assessor of Property Melvin Burgess received more than 39,000 votes and will go up against Republican Steve Cross.
