Senior care facility planned on Baptist Hospital campus

By Graham Sweeney

The town’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen will consider rezoning a 10.3-acre parcel near Baptist Memorial Hospital to “medical professional office.”

The property is currently zoned for “estate residential” and is located on the north side of Poplar Ave., east of Shea Road.

Board members will discuss the rezoning on Monday night during their regularly scheduled meeting. The Planning Commission has already recommended approval.

If approved, Baptist Hospital would contribute the land to National HealthCare Corporation (NHC), which is based in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

NHC plans to develop the land into a 92-unit senior care facility with 60 beds, 30 memory care beds and 18 behavioral health facility beds.

Donquetta Singleton, project planner, said that there is already a Collierville retirement residence directly to the east of the property.

The town is also home to the Langford of Collierville and the Farms at Bailey Station.
