Main Street Collierville welcomes blues musician Sandy Carroll to the Sunset on the Square Summer Concert this Thursday evening.
Carroll was awarded her own brass note enshrined on Beale Street as a performer and songwriter. She has appeared at many venues in the area which include Muscle Shoals Songwriters, Beale St. Caravan National Radio Show, WC Handy Festival, Memphis in May Festival, Center for Southern Folklore, Eureka Springs Blues Festival and Southern Heritage Festival. Join us on Town Square to hear her energetic show and piano playing group.

The Germantown Baseball Club will hold tryouts for its 2015 competitive baseball teams, the Germantown Giants and the Germantown Sox, on July 26 and 27 at Gameday Baseball Complex in Cordova. Specific tryout times and a link for online registration are posted at germantownbaseballclub.org.
The non-profit Germantown Baseball Club (GBC) fields teams for ages 7 through 14 and provides players the opportunity to compete at the highest level, receive coaching from some of the area’s top instructors, and play and practice at the top facilities in the Mid-South. GBC teams have won numerous local, state and national titles with many of the organization’s alumni going on to star in high school, college and the professional ranks (for example, Matt Cain of the San Francisco Giants).
The Germantown Giants and Germantown Sox compete at the Major and AAA levels under the rules of the USSSA. Teams typically practice 3 to 5 times per week and play 40 to 65 games per season in tournaments against local, regional, and national teams.

DCI Gallery announces a summer exhibition of new works by its gallery artists. The opening reception will be on Aug. 1 from 6-8:30 p.m. at 776 E. Brookhaven Circle.
DCI Gallery represents nine artists and many of them are locally and regionally accomplished. (Local artists include Terri Panitz, Sandee Sander, Sheryl Hibbs, Don Morgan, Janet Beaver and Judy Joy Nocifora) This will be a wonderful time to meet and greet the artists that will be in attendance.

Neighborhoods throughout Collierville are invited to again join communities nationwide by participating in the annual National Night Out set for Aug. 5 from 6 -9 p.m.
The Collierville Police Department encourages residents to take the ‘Night Out’ special recognition day as an opportunity to bring together friends, family, neighborhoods, other groups, adults and children alike, to show support of local anti-crime awareness.
National Night Out is also called “America’s Night Out Against Crime.” The nationwide event is designed to heighten drug prevention and crime awareness, generate support and participation in local anti-crime efforts, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships. Neighbors uniting send a message to criminals letting them know that their neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
National Night Out now involves over 37.8 million people and 16,124 communities from all fifty states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.
The Collierville Police Department coordinates the annual event, which drew participation from more than 30 local neighborhoods last year.

Members of the Collierville Police Department and representatives of Collierville Mayor and Board of Aldermen will use registered events to visit as many of the locations as possible. Often, ‘America’s Night out Against Crime’ gatherings include block parties, parades, ice cream socials and more. There is no size requirement to take part in National Night Out so the event can be as large or small as desired.
“It would be great if we could double participation over last year’s National Night Out groups,” Collierville Police Chief Larry Goodwin said. “By staying highly visible as a Police force and uniting as a Town for this event, the stronger position we present against crime.”

The Collierville Sewing Guild meets the first Thursday of every month at the Hobby Lobby on Poplar in Collierville.

The Collierville Youth Talent Show and Contest will be at 2 p.m. on Aug. 10 at the Harrell Performing Arts Theatre, 440 West Powell Road.
The event is a Mid-South Fair Youth Talent preliminary contest and presented by Miss Collierville Scholarship Organization and Collierville Arts Council.
