ECS seeks to build early childhood wing

A local private school on Forest Hill-Irene Road is looking to grow. Evangelical Christian School’s elementary campus is seeking a 12,000-square-foot expansion.

Head of School Braxton Brady was scheduled to address the Germantown Planning Commission on Jan. 7 to seek approval of the final site plan for a building addition.

A “use on appeal” for the expansion was granted by the city last December.

The proposed project is for an 11,655-square-foot building expansion to accommodate the school’s early education program and will include 94 parking spaces.

The ECS lower school campus currently hosts students in grades pre-k through fifth.

The new early childhood wing has been designed by Archimania and will house classrooms for pre-k students.

The expansion will be adjacent to the east side of the existing building.
The existing building is 42,791 square feet.

The campus was given approval for development in 1999 at 1920 Forest Hill-Irene.

ECS was founded in 1965 and joined Association of Christian Schools International in 1984.

It hosts grades pre-k to 12, with grades 6-12 at the Macon campus in Cordova.
