Connecting the Community

By Ruth Goodman

The VFW Collierville Connect celebrated their fifth year as a group helping the Town of Collierville. There were several new faces there which showed they are still needed and are helping the Town of Collierville.  The program has changed some, but the purpose is still the same. When first started, the group would meet two days a week in the Methodist Church on the square, helping people write resumes, apply for jobs and any other ways that might need help.  When Covid came things got slower, lots of jobs opened, so the group started using the telephone to help people.

Today, Collierville Connect is working with children getting them prepared for kindergarten. Wanda Gibbs, who is on the School Board position #1, discussed what opportunities the high school has to offer the students, invited others to attend the school board meetings and spoke of the pride that Collierville should have for such a great school system in the town of Collierville.
