For several weeks, those within the town’s police department have been training to use new software designed to manage records and reports more efficiently.
The Inform Records Management System was made available with funding from the Shelby County 911 Board. The CPD requested allocation of $885,000 from the Shelby County 911 Board to purchase the system, which means residents will not bear the cost for the software.
“The implementation of this new technology will allow the Collierville Police Department to keep more officers on patrol because our reports can be processed more efficiently,” said Chief Larry Goodwin. “The new system will also enable officers to quickly search records thus increasing responsiveness and the mobility of our force.”
The software provides officers the ability to process the entry of records in the patrol car utilizing laptops.
The technology will provide officers with fast access to pertinent information for making quick and effective decisions. Because officers will experience reduced time required to log in incident reports, they will be able to remain in the field on patrol for longer times.
Training will continue for the statistical data input of records, as well as case, jail and evidence management. Within the year, officers will have the ability to input data in the patrol vehicles and can also access violations and information from area departments.
