Mayor and Aldermen appoint Dr. Charles Green to Collierville Municipal School Board

The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen appoints Dr. Charles M. Green to fill the unexpired  term of Position 4 on the Collierville Municipal School Board. Dr. Green’s appointment comes following a special-called meeting held at Collierville Town Hall on February 9, 2024. 

After receiving 19 applications for the position and narrowing down the applicants to 8 finalists, the  Board of Mayor and Aldermen conducted interviews for the finalist and came to a unanimous  decision to appoint Dr. Green. 

A retired public school educator and educational administrator with extensive experience, Dr. Green  brings a distinguished background to the Collierville School Board. His leadership, along with his  commitment to education, makes him uniquely qualified to serve the community of Collierville. 

Dr. Green’s career spans several decades, including roles as Assistant Principal, Principal, and various administrative positions within Memphis City Schools and other districts across the country. He holds  a Ph.D., a Specialist Degree, a Master of Education, and a Bachelor of Science, among other  qualifications. Dr. Green’s dedication to education extends beyond his administrative roles. He has  served as an educational consultant, a guidance counselor, a teacher of secondary mathematics and  science, and an adjunct professor at multiple universities which include Tennessee State University,  Christian Brothers University, and the University of Memphis. 

Throughout his career, Dr. Green has been recognized for his contributions to education,
including receiving the Tennessee Distinguished Administrator State Award. His involvement in professional  associations such as the Tennessee Education Association and the National Education Association further represents his commitment to advancing the field of education. 

Dr. Green will serve in Position 4 until the next municipal election scheduled for November 5, 2024.
