Collierville’s incumbents win election

By Graham Sweeney

Collierville’s incumbent town officials secured their seats Tuesday by a margin of 33,230 to 16,455 votes, with Maureen Fraser, Billy Patton and Missy Marshall reclaiming their Pos. 1, Pos. 2 and Pos. 4 Alderman positions, respectively.

Fraser, who has served five terms, was elected over William Boone by a vote of 11,878 to 4,784, according to the Shelby County Election Commission.

Patton, who has been elected to his fourth term, was voted 9,680 to 6,951 over Jewel Jordan.

Marshall, who was elected as Pos. 4 Alderman in 2020, will serve her second term after defeating Emily Fulmer 11,672 to 4,720 Tuesday night.

Fraser recently noted that Collierville’s Police, Fire and new EMS Departments are “top-notch.”

“Recruitment and retention are key to their success, along with the best equipment, resources, training and competitive wages,” she said, adding, “Our Collierville School System is the most sought after in the area. Our facilities and teachers are the best of the best. Our Collierville students deserve the finest education and experiences possible.”

One of Patton’s stances includes the concern over the town’s high density developments.

“I believe allowing too many high density development projects is a major concern,” he noted. “It seems that every developer/builder comes with a request to the town to increase their density, do to a (planned unit development) overlay, or to modify their bulk requirements regarding reduction of setbacks.”

Marshall said that Collierville is “one of the most desirable communities in the Mid-South to live and work.”

“The decisions made today impact the future of the town and the citizens who reside here,” she said. “Ensuring that the needed infrastructure is in place to accommodate future growth is essential to maintaining the quality of life we all cherish.”
