• Looking for something fun to do during Fall Break? On Oct. 13, the Collierville Burch Library will offer Creepy Critters, a fun and educational program for children ages 6-10. There will be two performances: 2:00-3:00 and 3:30-4:30. Register online at colliervillelibrary.org.
Creepy Critters focuses on those less cuddly and icky creatures whose importance is often taken for granted. This program features arachnids, insects and snakes to illustrate that such undesirable critters serve an extremely important purpose to the environment.
Participants will be allowed to get “hands-on” with several animals and all should walk away with a different view of these creepy critters.

• The New Neighbors Welcome Coffee for October will be at the home of Marianne Foster on October 13 at 9:30 a.m. The coffee is held the second Thursday of each month to welcome prospective members. For more information please contact Julia Williams at 626-3649.

• The New Neighbors monthly luncheon will be held Oct. 19 at the Germantown Country Club at 11 a.m. Members are asked to bring donations for the Tunica Humane Shelter.

Oct. 19
• There will be a public meeting on Oct. 19 p.m. from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Germantown Parks and Recreation Department, 2276 West Street.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the public art project for Oaklawn Garden. This project is being funded in part by a Creative Placemaking grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission.
This public meeting will discuss the parameters of the proposed project.
The public is urged to attend.

• As part of their efforts to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Saint Francis Healthcare will host “Mammos ‘Til Midnight.” These events will take place at Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett on Oct. 21 and at Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis on Oct. 28.
Extended appointment hours will be available from 5:00 p.m. until midnight for women to receive their annual screening mammogram. The relaxing environment will include wine, cheese and hors d’oeuvres.
Appointments at Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett may be scheduled by calling 820-7575, while appointments at Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis may be scheduled by calling 765-3279. A physician referral is not required.
Oct. 22
• On Oct. 22, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Collierville Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its 12th opportunity in six years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your pills for disposal to CPD, located at 156 North Rowlett in Collierville. The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills or patches. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
Oct. 23
• The Germantown Community Library will host a Teen Pumpkin Carving Contest at 2 p.m. on Oct. 23 at 1925 Exeter Road. The event is for children ages 13-18 years old.
Join us for a spooky Big Read event and carve a Tom Sawyer themed pumpkin for your door this fall. Supplies will be provided for teens to create a piece of pumpkin art. Pictures will be taken of all pumpkins and proudly displayed on the Library Facebook page and inside the library. Pre-registration is required and begins on October 16.

• There will be a Master Grill-Off at the Bobby Lanier Farm Park from 5-10 p.m. on Oct. 28. The event is free for spectators, $50 for amateur grilling individual/team and $150 per professional individual/team.
This fall event will feature two categories of cooking competition accommodating the weekend backyard grilling enthusiast as well as the barbeque competition veteran. Whether you are new to the hobby or continuing your journey as a master competitor, bring your portable grills or smokers along with fresh, local ingredients to the Farm Park to compete for fabulous prizes.

• The annual Collierville Scare on the Square on Oct. 28 on Historic Town Square. The event is sponsored by Junior Auxillary of Collierville, Main Street Collierville and Town of Collierville.
The annual Coat Drive benefiting the children of Collierville Schools will also be held.
Trick or Treating with the Town Square Merchants will begin at 4 p.m.
Games and Crafts with the JA of Collierville will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Oct. 30
• The Fall Harvest Festival will be held from 1-4 p.m. at Bobby Lanier Farm Park, 2660 Cross Country Drive.
Bring your own picnic or purchase food from a food truck. Live music, pumpkin patch activities, visiting farm animals, hay rides, a hay maze, scarecrow contest, corn hole and kiddie pedal tractor pull competition are the highlights of the afternoon. For more information, visit thefarmpark.org.
