Gene Robinson III has been named the new head football coach of Germantown High School.
A four-year University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill football letterman, Robinson fuses his passion for football and community through a sport that he believes changes lives.
Robinson comes from Fairley High School, where he has been the head coach for the last three seasons.
At Fairley, Robinson led the Fairley Bulldogs to three consecutive Region 8-2A Championships after transforming the program in 2017.
In 2017, in his first season as Head Coach, Robinson led the Fairley Bulldogs to win the Regional 2A Championship with a 8-3 season record, going 5-0 in the region.
Fairley repeated this trend with consecutive Regional 8-2A Championships in 2018 (9-3 record, 5-0 in the region) and 2019 (10-2 record, 5-0 in the region.)
Robinson has been named the Region 8-2A “Coach of the Year’” consecutively for the 2017, 2018, and 2019 seasons.
Robinson was selected as the youngest head coach and the first alumni player of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl All-Star Game in 2019 where he led the “Red Team” to victory.
While Robinson returned to Memphis in 2014 as the head coach of Riverview Middle School, he committed himself to exposing and preparing his players to the post-secondary opportunities that football could provide to them.
Robinson firmly believes that, “Football can be a way out for student athletes, providing them opportunities they would not have had without it.
“These players have the opportunity to become teachers, businessmen, and lawyers and able to do so for free,” he concluded.
