Greg Clark has been named the town’s new director of the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department.
The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted unanimously Monday night to approve Mayor Stan Joyner’s 52-year-old nominee.
Clark has served as interim director of the Parks Department since the retirement of longtime director Chip Petersen in May. He was first hired by the town in 1997 as assistant parks director.
“Greg has been involved in all aspects of the Parks Department,” said Town Administrator James Lewellen, “including athletic programs, national tournaments, special events and all aspects of Animal Shelter operations.”
Clark has also been involved in the construction of several parks facilities in his 19 years with the town.
All department head positions for the town are nominated by the mayor and appointed by a majority vote of the aldermen.

• Jay Cravens was named development director for the town. He too was nominated by Joyner.
Cravens will be charged with coordinating the activities and responsibilities of the town’s Engineering, Planning and Construction Codes departments. He is currently city manager in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
• A special work session meant to discuss term limits was cancelled before the regularly scheduled meeting Monday night due to Alderman Tom Allen’s recent hospitalization.
