Working steadfastly in anticipation of the first day of classes on Aug. 4, the new Collierville Municipal School District recently hired Herchel Burton as part of the administrative team.

Burton will serve as director of Student Services, working with Superintendent John Aitken. He joins other administrators, Chief Financial Officer Anita Hays and Dr. Russell Dyer, coordinator of Human Resources.

Other new members of the support team include Student Management Systems staff members Tabitha Barnes, Becky Kenley and Karen Dew.

Marsha Landstreet is the new School Nutrition supervisor and Kristal McGee is secretary with the Human Resources Department.

Currently, school officials are working within Collierville Town Hall while renovations are being made to the Historic High School at 146 College Street, where the headquarters will be located.

The building is just off of the historic Town Square District in Downtown Collierville and is expected to be ready in mid-May.

Plans for Collierville Schools include some 650 personnel in the eight schools in the district, with an estimated $56 million dollar budget.

School calendar information is located at colliervilleschools.org.

The full management and support team for Collierville Schools is expected to number around 30. Hiring will continue for several more weeks. In an agreement with other municipal school districts, Collierville will have six employees that will be shared by all districts.

Three nutritionists, three student management systems employees and three workers within the transportation departments will split duties in Arlington, Bartlett, Collierville, Germantown, Lakeland and Millington.

Open positions will be posted on colliervilleschools.org/careers. Applications will be taken only if there is a posted position and the application is received within the posted period.
