Dragons fall to Warriors late in playoffs

The Collierville Dragons’ season came to an end Friday after a close 35-28 home loss against Central in the first round of the Div. Class 6A playoffs.
Led by quarterback Mitch Austin and running back Duple Travillion, the Dragons carried a 28-21 lead into the fourth quarter after being down 21-20 at halftime. However, the Warriors scored 14 unanswered points in the final quarter to get the playoff victory.
Austin, a senior, threw for 178 yards in the game and four touchdowns. He added seven carries for 47 yards.
Standout sophomore Travillion ran for 58 yards and caught four passes for 92 yards and a touchdown.
Junior receiver Scottie Alexander caught a pass for 70 yards. Senior Jay Cole (PICTURED) also pulled in a touchdown pass.
Senior running back Ladarin Brown had 63 yards on the ground on just seven carries.
Senior safety Mario Sanders paced the defense with 10 tackles. Defensive tackle Jared Dawson also had 10 tackles and two sacks.
Collierville finished its 2019 season with a 5-6 record. The Warriors move on to play Whitehaven this Friday night in the second round of the playoffs.
Collierville had an up-and-down season, picking up big wins against Cordova, White Station and Center Hill but losing close games against Arlington and Southaven.
