The Lucius E & Elsie C Burch, Jr. library recently announced the winners of their 2022 National Novel Writing Month Short Story and Book Cover Art Contests. After months of reviewing and voting, the library staff is proud to share the results with the Collierville community.

Emma Beckman, Laith Hamadi, Navya Jain, Allison Macri, Meenkashi Nachiappan, and Aarya Sethi were all named winners of the Short Story Contest. The competition challenged participants to write a short story during National Novel Writing Month, which takes place every November. The winners were selected for their creativity, writing style, and ability to engage readers.

In addition to the Short Story Contest, the library also hosted a Book Cover Art Contest. Amruthasree Murahari was named the winner, with Avery Beckman, Reyansh Dash, Navya Jain, and Meenakshi Nachiappan as the runners-up. The contestants were tasked with designing a book cover based on a novel they wrote during National Novel Writing Month. Murahari’s cover art stood out for its eye-catching design, bold colors, and attention to detail.

The winners and runners-up were recently recognized at an event held at the library. Navya Jain, an author, and illustrator, was among the winners and was presented with her award by the library staff. Jain’s talent in both writing and art was evident in her submission, which impressed the judges with its beautiful illustrations and captivating storyline.

The library staff expressed their gratitude to everyone who participated in the contests and thanked them for their patience during the delays caused by the recent ice storms. Despite the setbacks, the finished books are finally here, and the library is excited to share them with the community.

“We love reading your stories and viewing your art, and we hope you all will participate in future contests,” said a library staff member. “The Collierville Caboodle is a testament to the creativity and talent in our community, and we are proud to be a part of it.”

The Collierville Caboodle is an annual publication that showcases the best short stories and book cover art from the National Novel Writing Month contests.
