An ‘essential’ bunny

Collierville Mayor Stan Joyner proclaimed the Easter Bunny an essential worker on April 9. He read and presented the proclamation to the Easter Bunny himself.

Joyner was also joined by the board and Town Administrator James Lewellen for a photo with the bunny, at an appropriatly safe distance.

The proclamation read:

Whereas, this time of year, there is a special visitor who leaves surprises in homes to celebrate spring and new life; and

Whereas, I am pleased to announce the Easter Bunny is an essential worker and is given full authority to hop around through Town; and

Whereas, the Easter Bunny is taking proper precautions to practice social distancing and remain unnoticed by sleeping children; and

Whereas, the Easter Bunny will also follow food safety guidelines leaving eggs and treats in baskets after thoroughly washing his paws; and

Whereas, The Town of Collierville want to wish you a Happy Easter and we hope that you stay safe and healthy; and

Now therefore, I, Stan Joyner, Mayor of the Town of Collierville, Tennessee, do hereby proclaim Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 as “A Day of Essential Business for the Easter Bunny,” and encourage Collierville citizens to continue to stay safe at home making the most out of this time spent together.
