Longo signs to play soccer at Mercer University

Briarcrest senior Logan Longo will be attending Mercer University this fall.

He is a National Merit Commended Scholar. He has received an AP Scholar with Distinction Award, the Top Scholar Awards in the Science and Social Studies Departments, and Departmental Awards in AP Spanish, AP Statistics, AP English, and Health and Fitness. He also received the Benjy Francis (given to the athlete with the highest grade-point average) and Scholar Athlete of the Year Awards this past year.

Longo is also a member of the National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. He scored a perfect 36 on his ACT as a sophomore and is the Valedictorian of his class with a 5.825 grade-point average.

At the high school level, Longo was also named as an Allstate All-American. He was selected as the captain of Team Twellman for the Allstate All-America Cup where only 40 boys in the nation were selected to play. He was also named as a member of the Best XI from the Allstate All-America Cup.

Longo also received last year’s Boys Soccer Player of the Year Award and was a finalist for Gatorade Player of the Year. He has been a member of the All-State team since sophomore year and a member of the All-Region team since freshman year.

This past year, Longo was also recognized as the Region Midfielder of the year and named to the TSWA All-State team. Logan was also named to the TopDrawer Soccer State Stars Team, TopDrawer Soccer All-Region Team, and TopDrawer Soccer Second Team All-American.

At the club level, Longo is a 6x Division 1 State Champion and 1x USYS National League Winner.
Longo was named to the Best XI at the USYS National Tournament in 2017.

Longo has also been a member of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) Region Team for the past four years and has been the team’s captain the past two years. Also, at the ODP Interregional Event where the four regions play each other, Longo was named to the All-Star team for that event twice.
