The Collierville Civitan Club has announced plans to cancel the 10th annual Tour de Collierville originally scheduled for Aug. 31.
Gus Lauer, president of the Civitan Club, said several complications, as well as a lack of staff prompted the cancellation.
“We have all the intentions of bringing it back,” he noted.
Lauer said “miscommunication” with the Memphis Hightailers Bicycle Club and other “unforeseeable missteps” convinced the Civitan Club to postpone the event, which has raised more than $70,000 in nine years for groups like Camp Smile, the Collierville Literacy Council, etc.
“Look for additional details for the future Tour de Collierville,” Lauer said.
