Two dead in Germantown domestic assault | Collierville Independent

Germantown police announced Monday that the woman injured in Friday’s domestic assault has died. Karri Baker, 38, died on Aug. 2.

She was found unresponsive on Friday morning when Germantown police responded to a domestic assault call at 8:14 a.m. on the 7900 block of Elm Leaf Drive, south of Germantown Elementary and Middle schools.

Upon arrival, responding officers located Baker, who was unresponsive, in the garage. Matthew Bashaw, 36, was located in the driveway also unresponsive.

Officers checked the interior of the residence for possible suspects, but the residence was clear.

A female juvenile who was at the home was safe and in the care of the caller when officers arrived.

Baker was not breathing and appeared to have suffered a head wound. Bashaw also appeared to have a head wound.

Germantown Fire Department paramedics arrived at 8:21 a.m. and began providing emergency medical care to the female. Bashaw was pronounced dead at the scene.

A semi-automatic pistol was found under the male subject’s leg.

The scene was secured and GPD’s investigation continues. Germantown police are not seeking additional suspects in this case.
