Continuity of Operations

The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen is still hard at work. The members recently got together (six feet apart) for a work session to hear and discuss continuity of operations among the COVID-19 pandemic with Town Administrator James Lewellen.

The Town of Collierville’s recycling center vendor, West TN Recycling Hub, will not be able to process the recyclable materials from Collierville for the remainder of the week. This includes Town sanitation pick-ups scheduled for Wednesday March 25 and Thursday March 26.75% of the recycling facility’s sorting line are inmates employed by West TN Recycling Hub. The State of Tennessee recently stopped allowing all inmates to work outside a prison facility as part of the state’s COVID-19 regulations. West TN Recycling Hub will not have enough employees to meet the demands of their customers. This situation is still developing, and West TN Recycling Hub hopes to return to processing our recyclables as early as Monday, March 30, 2020.

So, what does that mean for Collierville residents who recycle? There are a couple of options:

1. Hold your recyclables until the facility re-opens.
2. Place your recycle carts on the curb to be picked up, and the material will be taken to the landfill.

The Town will inform residents when West TN Recycling Hub is able to receive our material and regular curbside recycling resumes.
