The Morton Museum of Collierville History and the Collierville Arts Council will celebrate art, history, and music at the Morton Museum and Harrell Performing Arts Theatre on Sept. 26 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Works of art by three community artists and Common People in Uncommon Times, a special traveling exhibition from the Tennessee State Museum, will be on display. There will also be music at the Morton Museum provided by local musician Leesa Wilkinson.
Nancy Adair, Forooz Yeganeh, and Ron Lace were selected by the Morton Museum and the Collierville Arts Council for solo exhibitions in the Community Art Galleries at the Museum and Harrell Performing Arts Theatre.
In June, the Morton Museum and the Collierville Arts Council selected 21 artists for exhibitions that run for six to eight weeks. This is the second group of artists to be featured.
Art work by interior designer Nancy Adair will be shown at the Morton Museum and feature oil painting and fused glass. Ron Lace will also be featured at the Museum in the Russell Reading Room. His works are inspired by photos taken at the Battle of Collierville Reenactments over the past several years.
Forooz Yeganeh, who was born in Tehran and teaches at the University of Memphis, will be exhibited at the Harrell Theatre. Her works are inspired by the colors of Tuscany and Venice. Exhibitions will be on display Sept. 26 through Nov. 2 and are free to the public.
Common People in Uncommon Times: The Civil War Experience in Tennesseehighlights the personal stories of common Tennesseans surviving in the most trying and sometimes most jubilant of times. The exhibition contains artifacts such as Confederate coffee bean rations and personal items carried by soldiers into battle.
The Morton Museum of Collierville History is part of the Town of Collierville and admission is always free and open to the public Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 1-5 p.m.
