Town’s curbside recycling on hold

Collierville’s recycling center vendor, West TN Recycling Hub, will not be able to process the recyclable materials from Collierville for the remainder of the week.

This includes town sanitation pick-ups scheduled for March 25-26.

Seventy five percent of the recycling facility’s sorting line are inmates employed by West TN Recycling Hub.

Tennessee recently stopped allowing all inmates to work outside a prison facility as part of the state’s COVID-19 regulations.

West TN Recycling Hub will not have enough employees to meet the demands of their customers.

This situation is still developing, and West TN Recycling Hub hopes to return to processing our recyclables as early as March 30.

So, what does that mean for Collierville residents who recycle? There are a couple of options:

• Hold your recyclables until the facility re-opens.

• Place your recycle carts on the curb to be picked up, and the material will be taken to the landfill. The town will inform residents when West TN Recycling Hub is able to receive our material and regular curbside recycling resumes.
