Local restaurant, gas station investor hopes to open convenient store on Byhalia

A new convenience store is slated for construction south of Highway 385.

On Thursday, the town’s Planning Commission will consider a preliminary site plan for a 5,000-square-foot convenience store at the northwest corner of Collierville and Byhalia roads.

The property is part of the Byhalia Commons planned development, which includes a townhouse community and StoryPoint Senior Living.

The proposed site layout for the convenient store “meets the zoning ordinance and outline plan bulk requirements for lot size, setbacks, etc.,” according to town staff.

The store will include 10 gas pumps and 51 parking spaces.

A traffic signal is slated for installment at Collierville and Byhalia roads in 2022.

The property developer is Radiant Group of Companies LLC.

Located in Collierville, the group’s Chief Executive Officer is Anwar Aman.

Anwar and his group own and manage more than 100 properties that consist of various types of businesses in areas all over the Southeast.

He is also partnered with petroleum distributors on gas station imaging projects and is considered “one of the leaders in the industry in Memphis.”

Radiant Group recently opened the Exxon gas station at 814 Mt. Moriah Road, the site of the former Easy Way in East Memphis and has developed several fast food restaurants in Shelby County.
