Funeral services for David Clinton McMeans, 71, were held Wednesday May 12 at 11:00 am at Memorial Funeral Home. A committal service with military honors will take place at 2:00 pm at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Collierville, TN
David of Killen, AL formerly of Collierville, TN passed away on Tuesday May 4, 2021 at Athens-Limestone LTAC Hospital following a long Covid-19 related illness surrounded by his family. He was born October 7, 1949 in Corinth, MS to the late James C. McMeans and Laura V. Cummings McMeans of Iuka. He graduated from Burnsville High School and attended Northeast Junior College in Booneville, MS. He later graduated from the University of Mississippi with a BBA in 1976.
David served in the U.S. Air Force in 1969-1971 during the Vietnam War as a Sergeant in the 1840th Air Base Wing where he was an Accounting Specialist. He then pursued a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant, a real estate developer and entrepreneur in Tennessee, Texas, Mississippi, and Alabama. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, National Society of Public Accountants, Tennessee Society of CPN’s, Mississippi Association of Public Accountants and held license in Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi. He was a member of the Collierville Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce. David also served on the Tishomingo County Developments Foundation Board in 2004-2005 in Tishomingo County. David was a member of First Baptist Church in Collierville, TN where he resided over 34 years before retiring. David enjoyed traveling, camping, and boating with his family. He was looking forward to spending more time with his children and grandchildren in his retirement years.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patsy Hall McMeans, of Killen, AL; three sons, D. Chris McMeans (Jennifer) of Corinth, MS; S. Brett McMeans (Tamara) of Florence, AL and Tyson R. McMeans of Florence, AL; two sisters, Betty Callahan (Phil) of Corinth and Connie Frazier (Greg) of Orange Beach, AL; five grandchildren, Cody McMeans (Holly) of Iuka, MS, Devin McMeans of Corinth, MS, Ashley McMeans of Corinth, Josh Boswell (Katie) of Cordova, TN, and Connor McMeans of Florence, AL; three great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial gifts may be made in honor of Mr. David McMeans to the St. Jude Children’s research Hospital or a charity of choice.
