Town orders new trash carts

Collierville has ordered more than 1,400 garbage and recycling carts to be distributed throughout the town.


The Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved the $75,929 purchase last week during their regularly scheduled meeting.

More than 1,200 green Toter 96-gallon trash carts and 250 burgundy recycling carts will be bought from Stringfellow Inc.

The purchase comes in more than $7,000 under budget. 

More than 18,000 garbage carts and 12,000 recycle carts are collected on a weekly bases in Collierville.

The Saintation Department buys new carts at the beginning of each fiscal year based on the number of carts currently in inventory and the estimated demand for carts.

The carts cost around $52 individually. 

There is a maximum of three wheeled carts allowed per residence, including one recycling cart.
