The Department of Coordinated School Health at Collierville Schools has announced the selection of Bailee Vick as the new liaison for the Family Resource Center.
Vick, a Collierville native and a 2014 Collierville High School graduate, attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Child and Family Studies.
After returning to Collierville, Vick completed a master’s degree in Social Work through the University of Tennessee. Vick, a Tennessee sports enthusiast, enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and weekend trips to the Town Square in her spare time.
According to Vick, “this is a special moment for all Collierville Schools stakeholders. My role will strengthen partnerships between our schools and community, collaborating with students, parents, and school administrators to bring awareness, focus, and resources to specific individuals.
The Family Resource Center provides the necessary support for the “whole-child” approach beyond curriculum and instruction.”
Meghan Seay, the district’s Coordinated School Health Supervisor, said, “having Ms. Vick is a game-changer for students and families. She will be working closely with our families and community partners to bring current programs to at-risk individuals while developing new initiatives to align with our ‘whole-child’ approach to learning. We are extremely excited to have Ms. Vick’s expertise and self-motivated personality to help move our school system forward.”
The Collierville Schools Family Resource Center is the district’s centralized operations for family support, district and community-centered resources, and community outreach.
Dedicated professionals manage the Family Resource Center with accreditations in health care, social work, mental health, and health and wellness education.
• What is the WSCC model?
The Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child, or WSCC model, is CDC’s framework for addressing health in schools.
The WSCC model is student-centered and emphasizes the role of the community in supporting the school, the connections between health and academic achievement and the importance of evidence-based school policies and practices.
The WSCC model has 10 components:
- Physical education and physical activity.
- Nutrition environment and services.
- Health education.
- Social and emotional climate.
- Physical environment.
- Health services.
- Counseling, psychological and social services.
- Employee wellness.
- Community involvement.
- Family engagement.
The WSCC model is an evolution of Coordinated School Health, which has been funded through entitlement grants in the state since 2009.
The updated version is focused on community engagement in all aspects of meeting the non-academic needs of our students.
Collierville Schools Family Resource Center is the touch point for all of the services the district and our community partners can provide in order to give each students the very best opportunities for academic and personal achievement.
