Town works to get ‘back to business’

Town of Collierville By following the Safer at Home Order and health officials’ safety guidelines, Collierville residents contributed to the slow spread of COVID-19 infections.

While the community must remain vigilant adhering to social distancing and best hygiene practices, the Town must also work toward alleviating the burden on the economy while balancing the responsibility of protecting citizens.

“We want to thank everyone who has been involved in this undertaking.

I want to specifically thank the residents in the Town of Collierville for their patience and we want your businesses to get back open and be successful.

But this isn’t over, so don’t relax. Don’t give up on hand-washing, wearing your masks, and practice good hygiene – please protect those around you. We hope that we can come out of this ahead and just as soon as we can,” said Mayor Stan Joyner

The Town continues to work diligently with the Shelby County Health Department and municipalities across the county to implement a cooperative approach to getting back to business while prioritizing the life and safety of Shelby County residents.

A phased approach, informed by data and constantly monitored and adjusted, will be used to get us safely back-to-business.

The approach will be informed by indicators (measurements of the status of the pandemic) and conditions (measurements of our capacity to deal with the pandemic), with policies and implemented in three separate phases. At this point we cannot give a specific date of when reopening will begin in Phase One.

Data is being monitored daily by the Shelby County Health Department to determine when the 14-day downward trajectory presents a safe point to begin Phase One. We are in the “current phase” outlined on the sector grid.

It is important to understand that an increase in COVID-19 cases could lead to the return to a previous stage with higher levels of restriction.

Measures such as social distancing, wearing masks in public spaces, and limiting the number of people in gatherings are expected to continue for some time.

BACK TO BUSINESS FAQ

Does the Back to Business Plan replace the Safer at Home Order?

Once the required conditions are met, an Executive Order will be issued for re-openings under Phase One of the Back to Business Plan.
