Collierville Schools Superintendent Dr. Gary Lilly last week announced the appointment of Michele Seiler as the district’s next Director of Special Education.
Seiler, who currently serves as a specialist in the Department of Exceptional Children, will succeed Joyce Keohane, who has led Collierville’s Special Education program since the municipal school district’s inception in 2014.
Seiler will officially assume her new position on July 1.
Seiler began her career in special education in New Providence, New Jersey, before relocating to Shelby County in 2000.
After serving as a Resource Teacher for three years at Millington East Elementary, she spent the next eleven years as a Behavior Consultant for Shelby County Schools.
Since 2014, she has served in an administrative role in the Collierville Schools Department of Exceptional Children.
Seiler holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education from Kean University (NJ) and a Master of Science degree in Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Memphis.
She has completed more than 1500 hours of fieldwork in Applied Behavior Analysis, and she holds instructor-level certifications from both the Professional Crisis Management Association and the Crisis Prevention Institute.
Michele and her husband Jon reside in Collierville with their two daughters, Lillie and Hailey, both of whom attend Collierville Schools.
