Governor Lee to attend Chamber’s award ceremony

By Graham Sweeney

Gov. Bill Lee has accepted an invitation to attend the Collierville Chamber of Commerce’s annual Business Award ceremony this spring.

Chamber President Mark Heuberger made the announcement last month.

The third annual Excellence in Business Awards is expected to draw around 350 guests this year and was created with the goal of “bringing the local business community together.”

Heuberger said that the format for the current award event is “not based on popularity.”

“These awards are based on accomplishments,” he added.

The Chamber’s Board of Directors has carefully selected the winners through an interview process in recent years.

“This event has grown to be one of the most significant business events that takes place in Collierville,” said Heuberger.

The presence of Gov.  Lee is an added bonus this year.

“These awards represent excellence, innovation, entrepreneurship and citizenship in the local community,” Heuberger said. “And we are deeply honored that the governor has accepted the invitation to be the guest speaker.”

The Collierville Chamber of Commerce’s 2021 Excellence in Business Awards will recognize a host of talented business professionals from diverse industries across the community.

Finalists and recipients are selected by independent volunteer committees convened by the Collierville Chamber Board of Directors.

Presented by Simmons Banks and the Collierville Chamber of Commerce, the annual Excellence in Business Awards serves as an “opportunity to recognize those that set a standard for excellence in their respected category and strive for innovation in local business.”

Finalists will be honored, and a winner named, from 6:30-9 p.m. on March 3 at Collierville First Baptist Church.

Along with Simmons Bank, other sponsors include Alston Construction, Alexander Thompson Arnold PLLC, Boyle Insurance Agency, Inc., MLGW, and Orgill Inc.
