Board increases funding for schools | Collierville Independent

The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen has voted to increase the amount of money that the town will set aside for its municipal school district.

During the budget process for the 2013 fiscal year, board members decided to allocate $250,000 for expenses related to the creation of a municipal school district.

In September, the board passed a $200,000 budget amendment for legal fees involved with the future school district.

However, as of Nov. 16, expenses for schools litigation stands at $271,116, with additional expenses anticipated in coming months.

Board members voted Monday night to increase the sum of money assigned to schools to $450,000, with $200,000 going to litigation fees.

This will increase the amount budgeted for litigation expenses to $400,000.
