Town Celebrates 150 Years

Monday was a day for celebration on the Historic Town Square as a large audience assembled to help town, county and state officials kick off Collierville’s 150th birthday.

Local musician Donna Wolf provided a violin performance that had residents dancing.

Town Administrator James Lewellen welcomed those in attendance and introduced guests like Sen. Paul Rose, Rep. David Kustoff, Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris and U.S. Attorney Michael Dunavant before Mayor Stan Joyner read a proclamation commemorating Feb. 17, 2020 as the Town of Collierville’s 150th Anniversary.

Members of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen then helped Joyner unveil a painting by Evelina Dillon to celebrate the town’s history.

Historian Clarene P. Russell had the honor of cutting the celebratory cake.
