Collierville home sales up in January | Collierville Independent

Collierville began the year with a bang as home sales increased 34 percent in January.

According to the Memphis Area Association of Realtors, 59 Collierville homes were sold last month, 15 more than January 2012.

Despite falling 11 percent to $266,359, the town’s median sales price remains the second highest among Shelby County’s suburban municipalities. New homes sales were down 69 percent last month.

With 1,259 total sales recorded, Memphis-area home sales for January increased 46.1 percent from a year ago. Total sales rose 8.9 percent from December.

“What a great start to 2013,” said MAAR President Regina Hubbard. “Almost a 50 percent jump in sales and more than a 50 percent rise in sales volume. And sales went up nearly 9 percent from December, too.”

With 1,181 sales last month, countywide numbers were up 47 percent.

Sales were up 81, 53 and 36 percent in Germantown, Cordova and Bartlett, respectively.

Arlington and Lakeland experienced 75 and 42 percent jumps in sales, respectively. A total of nine new homes were sold in the communities.
