C’ville Summer Reading Program begins May 24 | Collierville Independent

Categorized |Education

The Collierville Burch Library’s Summer Reading Program for both readers and pre-readers will begin on May 24 and will run for approximately nine weeks.

During this time we will offer a special weekly summer story time schedule for ages 6 months-5 years, have numerous activity programs for children entering kindergarten through grade 5, and reward reading through the use of incentives such as food coupons and trinkets.

The special reading program “kick off” event will be held on May 30 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and will include an 11 a.m. magic show by Mr. Nick, and an opportunity to explore construction vehicles in our parking lot.

Participants will be able to meet Bad Kitty from the popular book series by Nick Bruel. Face painting, balloon art and door prizes for all ages will also be offered. And free sno-cones will be available while supplies last.

In addition to the children’s reading program, we will have reading programs for both young adults and adults. Young adults entering grades 6-12 may earn coupons for hours spent reading/listening to books or magazines and may even win one of our weekly gift cards.
