Schilling Farms was transformed last weekend into a battlefield for a re-enactment of the 1863 Battle of Collierville. Around 100 Civil War re-enactors imitated history Saturday afternoon in a skirmish that featured Union and Confederate infantry, as well as mounted cavalry and six cannons. The main event took place Saturday afternoon, but spectators were also able to tour Confederate and Union camps, visit with the soldiers, hear lectures from local historians, watch a Civil War-era doctor perform surgery and visit craft and food vendors.
