Miniature golf course could be built in Collierville

Collierville could be getting a new entertainment venue in the coming months.

On Thursday, the town’s Planning Commission is scheduled to discuss the construction of an 18-hole miniature golf course at 380 Market Blvd.

The venue will be operated by Malco Theatres and include concessions, virtual reality games, arcades, party rooms and a miniature golf course.

It is slated to be located near the northwest corner of the Malco Towne Cinema parking lot. The town must first approve a conditional use permit for the venue.

The conceptual design for the project was inspired by the Town Square Depot and Gazebo.

There are currently 797 parking spaces at the Malco Theatre, which seats 1,690.

Four hundred and twenty three spaces are currently required for the theater and 60 parking spaces will be required for the new venue.

So, the venue already has enough required parking.

Sounds associated with the venue will not violate the town’s anti-noise regulations.

Shelby County currently has two miniature golf courses, Putt-Putt Fun Center in Memphis and VP Mini Golf in Cordova.

Joseph Tomasello, senior managing engineer with The Reaves Firm, has requested a waiver from stormwater detention requirements.

“I do not anticipate an increase in the amount of storm water detention volume,” he noted. “The existing storm water inlets and pipes will be utilized to collect and discharge runoff into the existing detention facilities.”
