Four armed robberies reported in six days | Collierville Independent

Four armed robberies spanning from the northern to southern Collierville boundaries have been reported between Jan. 16 to Jan. 21.

Despite the rash of recent criminal activity, Collierville Assistant Chief of Operations Jeff Abeln assured that the town “is a safe community.”

“This is a very unusual series of criminal occurrences,” he noted.

• Collierville police responded to a reported robbery on Jan. 16 at around 9:17 p.m. on Dogwood Creek Court, near St. George’s Independent School.

The victim stated that she was approached by two African American male suspects dressed in all black with masks when she arrived at the residence.

One of the suspects was wearing a hoodie with a yellow or orange “V” and had a black handgun pointed at her. The suspect ordered her out of the car.

Both suspects entered her vehicle and drove away ultimately heading south on Houston Levee at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle is a silver 2014 Nissan Rogue with a Tennessee tag No. X08-09T.

• At 10:12 p.m. on n Jan. 19, officers responded to the Kroger Pharmacy at 240 N. Byhalia Road on an armed robbery call.

The pharmacist described the suspect as an African American male, with short hair, wearing a brown leather jacket, blue jeans, a white surgical mask and a gray skull cap.

Reports state that the suspect pulled a pistol and demanded all of the “OxyContin.” He then Suspect took the pharmaceuticals and ran out of the store.

Another employee observed the suspect running to a red sedan. Detectives arrived on the scene and will be processing all evidence, including any video evidence from Kroger and the surrounding area.

• On Jan. 20, a victim was in the parking lot of Walmart at around 8:30 p.m. when she was approached by an African American male with a “thin build, blue jeans and a red hoodie.”

He pulled a pistol on her and took her purse.

The suspect then ran east bound through the Walmart parking lot. The victim could not provide any further description. Memphis Police Department Aviation was called out and helped CPD in searching the area.

• On Jan. 21, an African American male with a slim build, wearing a black hoodie, white pants and white shoes approached a victim in her driveway on S. Mayfield Road.

Reports indicate that the man pulled a pistol and took the victim’s purse.

He left on foot, running down Durwood Cove. Residents were encouraged to lock their doors as officers looked for the suspect.

S. Mayfield Road is off Shelby Drive near Forrest Hill-Irene Road.
