The property, which is north of Highway 385 and west of Houston Levee, is currently zoned Forest-Agricultural-Residential.

The project will be completed in two phases, with the first phase including 450,000 square feet of retail and a gas station. It is projected for completion in 2018.

The second phase could include two hotels and 196,000 square feet of retail. A bridge across Nonconnah Creek must be constructed before the phase is started.

Property to the west and north of the project will remain Forest-Agricultural-Residential.

Uses for Shopping Center Commercial include department stores, apparel and accessories, restaurants, furniture stores, offices, convenience stores and service stations.

Board members approved the rezoning on first reading. A public hearing will be held on Dec. 12, with third and final reading scheduled for Jan. 9.

The owner of the property is Jason Crews of Germantown.
