The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen has approved the town’s annual street repaving project.
Board members unanimously passed the $1.34 million project Monday night during their regularly scheduled meeting.
The streets included in this year’s project haven’t been paved for an average of 17 years.
Beginning next year, streets in neighborhoods like Almadale Place, Estanaula Trails, Fleming Gardens, Poplar View Patio Homes and Wellington Farms will be repaved.
The proposed paving list of streets totals 25 lane miles, or four percent of the town’s overall lane miles.
The annual paving program involves patching, leveling and asphalt overlay for dozens of Collierville streets.
Bill Kilp, director of Public Services for the town, said Briarbrook Cove was initially included on the list of roads to be repaved next year. It was last paved in 1991 and is located north of Poplar Ave., between Peterson Lake and Burrows roads.
However, it was determined that the street needed extensive curb and gutter repairs, which must be completed before the surface is repaved. The cost of completion for curb and gutter repairs is estimated not to exceed. $100,000.
Collierville maintains around 680 lane miles of streets.
