Virtual reality golfing coming to Collierville

Golf lovers will soon be able to play their favorite international courses without leaving Collierville.

Town officials recently announced that a “golf-themed virtual reality entertainment venue” is on the horizon for the town.

Slated for construction on nearly 2 acres across the street from Carriage Crossing, uFOREa was granted a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) on Monday night for electronic amusement devices.

The town’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved the CUP during its regularly scheduled meeting with a majority vote. Alderman Billy Patton abstained.

The business, which will be located on the north side of Collierville Road, east of Houston Levee Road and south of Highway 385, will provide a “golf inspired, family entertainment experience.”

A future Holiday Inn Express will be adjacent to the business.

The facility will be comprised of three entertainment areas, including: a central foyer that will house a bar, cafe, concierge and simulator technology with multi-sport game play; a customized 12-hole mini golf course; a “golfer’s paradise with simulator technology allowing immersive play on world renowned golf courses.”

Included within the multi-sport game play will be simulated target shooting, including; “duck, wild boar, rabbit, pheasant hunting, alien assault and zombie survival.”

Scott Henninger, project planner, said patrons will be able to “simulate a golf course from across the nation or globe.”

The entire 16,000-square-foot facility will be indoors, with the possible addition of a patio in the future.

Maximum occupancy for the facility will be 200. uFOREa is a trademark by Invictitude, LLC.

The address on file is 4395 Mt. Gillespie Drive, Lakeland.
