Town’s sesquicentennial events already drawing big crowds

By Mark Heuberger

Collierville Chamber of Commerce

Officially they call it the Sesquicentennial — the celebration of 150 years.

This year it’s the Town of Collierville’s time to celebrate, and the Collierville Chamber of Commerce will offer its Monthly Members Luncheon as a perfect venue to celebrate our community’s rich heritage.

The Feb. 20 luncheon promises to be informative and fun, as representatives of the Town of Collierville offer Chamber members a unique perspective on our Town’s 150-years of growth and change.

The Chamber’s Feb. 20 Membership Luncheon, Sponsored by John Green & Company Realtors is already sold out. Yes, 200 seats are already purchased, which is full capacity.

The term “sold out” is starting to be a trend for the Collierville Chamber’s 2020 events.

The recent Excellence in Business Awards 2019 was sold out, with nearly 400 attendees.

A Lunch and Learn, held on Jan. 30, was also sold out. Going forward, the Feb. 13 Women’s Leadership Network is sold out, as well as the Feb. 20 Membership Luncheon.

The Town of Collierville will offer special programs throughout the year, beginning with a kick-off on the Town’s anniversary date, Feb. 17, at 12:30 p.m. on the Historic Town Square.

The free event will include entertainment, a proclamation from Mayor Joyner, the unveiling of the official 150 portrait, remarks from local officials, and cupcakes.

Information about Shine a Light recognition events and a historical timeline can be found at Collierville150.com.
