Fair on the Square returns after two years of cancellations

By Graham Sweeney

After a two-year hiatus, Collierville’s Fair on the Square will return on May 7-8 to provide live music, food trucks and plenty of shopping options for the community.

Collierville’s largest public arts and crafts event has been hosted by the Collierville Twentieth Century Club since 1976. Since then, the Fair has attracted 160-plus vendors and thousands of visitors from around the Mid-South to shop during the first weekend in May.

“We are excited to be back and we will be getting back into the groove of things,” said Fran Stanfield, Twentieth Century Club. “We expect to have a big crowd and lots of family fun. We have some great entertainment, food and craft vendors lined up. It’s great to be back.”

The money that the Club raises from the fair ($24,000 in 2018 and $28,000 in 2019) is redistributed back into the Collierville community in the form of grants to educators, organizations and other non-profits to help them achieve their goals and missions.

Stanfield noted that there will be fewer vendors this year than in previous years.

“The number of vendors is actually reduced this year, but it has more to do with the town requesting that we not have vendors on the grass for future fairs,” she said. “So, the set up is different and there are fewer vendor spaces, but we still have plenty.

“We are so happy to be able to hold the fair again after having to cancel the past two years and hope you are able to join us,” she added.
