Parks Dept. wins Four Star Award for town’s ‘Live Life Local’ campaign | Collierville Independent

The Collierville Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department was the recipient of a Four Star Award presented by the Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association at the recent awards banquet at LP Field in Nashville.

The award was presented for Excellence in Parks and Recreation Marketing Campaign for the successful and well-received ‘Live Life Local – 38017’ program initiated by the Collierville Tourism Advisory Commission and Collierville Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department.

The focus was to highlight opportunities for residents to plan a “stay-cation” in their own community and spend their time and discretionary income in their hometown.

“Live Life Local is a win-win campaign,” said Sheila Moody, special events coordinator for the town. “It not only helps our local economy and local businesses, it is also added revenue for the town’s newly established Collierville Municipal School System.”

Collierville’s winning campaign was acknowledged as the “best comprehensive and impactful marketing campaign launched by a parks and recreation department.”

“We are very proud of this departmental award from TRPA, the major association of the Parks Industry,” said Chip Petersen, Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts director for the town. “It’s the perfect example of town divisions and a volunteer advisory board working diligently together to create another great image for Collierville.”

Watty Brooks Hall, Tourism Advisory Board chairman, said success of the campaign is still evident.

“Several local businesses have reported increased customer traffic in their stores,” he said. “And many citizens have come in the stores with a specific request for the Live Life Local merchandise.”
