Kennith Preston Nowlin

1948 – 2021

Kennith Preston Nowlin, 72, of Collierville, Tennessee passed away suddenly from Coronavirus on September 10th, 2021.

A memorial service will be held at a later date due to the pandemic.

Preston was born in New Albany, Mississippi to Edward and Mavelene Nowlin on November 16th, 1948.  He graduated from Messick High School in Memphis, Tennessee, and married his high school sweetheart, Joanna, on August 8th, 1968. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage.

Preston was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend.   He had an infectious spirit who loved and was loved, by everyone he knew, so much so his friends affectionately nicknamed him “Buddy Boy”.

His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led him to work at the Kellogg Company for 40 years.  Once retired, he was a doting grandfather who didn’t mind changing dirty diapers.  Although he had dreams that his granddaughter would someday share in his passion for golf, he settled for her love of barbies instead.

Preston enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends.  He was adored and loved by all who knew him.

Preston is preceded in death by parents Edward and Mavelene Nowlin and stepmother Mary Nowlin; siblings, Marvanna (Kenny) Raymond and Travis Gray; and son Phillip Nowlin.

Preston is survived by wife, Joanna Nowlin; children, Julie Nowlin, and Amy (Eddie) Camilleri; grandchildren, Katherine, Scott, Jack, and Abigail; siblings, Charles (Carolyn) Nowlin, Carolyn Moorman, Sammy Nowlin, and Tina (Mike) Latham; and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to The National Kidney Foundation, www.kidney.org.
