A Proper Farewell: School Resource Officer Teel Retires from 30-years of service

The Collierville Police Department recognized Officer Lisa Teel during her retirement. Teel, a dedicated public servant to the Town of Collierville for 30 years, was assigned as a School Resource Officer at Collierville High School in 2018.  Collierville High School’s Principal Roger Jones, along with the staff of Collierville High School, wore Teal for “Teel day” in recognition of Officer Teel, her service and career.  

The Town of Collierville celebrated Officer Lisa Teel’s retirement, marking the end of her 30-year-long career as a dedicated public servant. Teel began her journey at CPD as a dispatcher in 1993, and two years later, she became a Police Officer.

Throughout her 30-year tenure, Officer Teel served in various roles, including Field Training Officer, Crime Scene Investigator, and Crisis Negotiator. In 2018, she was appointed as the School Resource Officer at Collierville High School, where she continued to make a significant impact on the lives of students and staff members.

“Officer Teel has been a dedicated and valuable member of our police force for the past 30 years,” said Mayor Stan Joyner. “Her service to our community is greatly appreciated, and we wish her all the best in her retirement.”

Officer Teel’s colleagues and friends also expressed their gratitude for her service and commitment to the community. “Lisa is a true professional who has made a positive impact on the lives of many people in our community,”
said Police Chief Dale Lane. “We will miss her dearly and wish her a happy and fulfilling retirement.”

Today, Principal Roger Jones and Collierville High School hosted a Teal for Teel day, honoring Officer Teel’s service to the school and community. Students and staff members were encouraged to wear the color teal, a nod to Officer Teel’s last name.

Principal Jones praised Officer Teel’s work as the School Resource Officer, saying, “She has been an instrumental part of our school community, and her presence will be sorely missed. We thank her for her unwavering commitment to keeping our students and staff safe.”

Officer Teel’s passion for serving the community and commitment to excellence have earned her the respect and admiration of many in the Town of Collierville. She has left an indelible mark on the department and the community she served.

Officer Teel’s retirement is a reminder of the dedication and sacrifice of those who serve and protect our communities. As a community, we should continue to honor and recognize the invaluable contributions of our public servants, past and present.

We thank Officer Teel for her service and wish her a happy and fulfilling retirement.
