Collierville Schools Director of Schools Dr. Gary Lilly is excited to announce the appointment of Tyler Salyer as the next principal of West Collierville Middle School.

Salyer actively serves as the principal of Collierville Elementary School.

He will succeed Principal Mrs. Beth Robbins, who will transition to Central Office as the district’s Data and Assessment Supervisor. Salyer started his professional career in 2006 as a fifth-grade language arts teacher at Southwind Elementary School with Shelby County Schools.

In 2011, Tyler transitioned to an administrative position as the performance improvement team member with Shelby County Schools until 2012.

He later served as assistant principal of Appling Middle School for one year (2012-13).

He transitioned to instructional support manager with Shelby County School during the latter part of 2013.

His administrative portfolio in Collierville includes four years (2013-17) as an assistant principal of Tara Oaks Elementary School and the last four years as principal of Collierville Elementary School. Salyer earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Memphis and a Master of Science in Education from Nova Southeastern University.

In 2009, he was one of nine Shelby County Schools educators selected to complete the University of Memphis Learning-Centered Leadership Program. Principal Salyer is a 2021 Tennessee Department of Education Semi-Finalist for the Principal of the Year award, which will be announced later this month.

Tyler and his wife, Rachel, a fourth-grade teacher at Sycamore Elementary School, reside in Collierville with their daughters, Hadley and Georgia.
