The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reported to a scene at the Wolf River at Collierville-Arlington Road on Wednesday where a man jumped into the river earlier that morning.
Collierville Fire & Rescue was able to perform a successful water rescue for the man and he was transported by Shelby County Fire to Baptist Collierville in critical condition.
The man was later pronounced deceased by Baptist Collierville physicians.
The “John Doe” is pending positive identification by the Medical Examiner’s Office. This investigation is ongoing.
This matter is under investigation but deputies initially said it was unclear why the man leapt into the river.
