Mardi Gras Celebration raises money for St. Jude | Collierville Independent

On Feb. 13, or Fat Tuesday, Sheffield Antiques Mall hosted a Mardi Gras Celebration for St. Jude through Adam’s Army.

Adam Cruthirds is a cancer survivor whose dedication to eradicating childhood cancer through St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has led him on a large crusade to raise funds for his beloved hospital.

Now a sophomore at Rhodes College, he is cancer-free but battles each day with the effects of the chemo therapy that saved his life. He works every day to meet his goal of raising $1 million for St. Jude.

“As the Mid-South’s largest and award winning antique center, it is our pleasure to host events that raise money and awareness for local charities,” said Dana Voorhies, Sheffield general manager.

Sheffield Antique Mall owner Trip Trezevant donates all of the expenses for the events so that 100 percent of the ticket sales and donations go directly to the charity.

“This year’s event was particularly heart-warming,” Voorhies said, “as the funds raised will go directly to the children and research at St Jude.”
